Medication can be a helpful part of mental health treatment, but finding the right fit is not always straightforward. Some people respond well to the first medication they try. Others go through several options before finding something that helps without causing unwanted side effects.
At Mindful Infusions, medication management is a collaborative process. We take time to understand your symptoms, your history, what you have already tried, and what you are hoping will improve. From there, we work with you to build a treatment plan that is thoughtful, realistic, and specific to your needs.
Medication management involves evaluating your current symptoms, reviewing your mental health and medical history, discussing treatment options, and prescribing medication when appropriate. It also includes ongoing follow-up to monitor how well treatment is working and whether any adjustments are needed.
This may include starting a new medication, adjusting a dose, changing medications, addressing side effects, or reviewing why previous medications may not have been helpful.
Medication management may be appropriate for concerns such as:
During your first visit, we will review your current concerns, past treatment history, medications, medical history, family history, sleep, stressors, and goals for care. The purpose is to understand the full clinical picture before making medication recommendations.
If medication is recommended, we will talk through the reason for the recommendation, potential benefits, possible side effects, and what we will monitor over time. You will have space to ask questions and discuss any concerns before starting or changing medication.
Follow-up visits are used to assess progress, review side effects, adjust the plan when needed, and make sure treatment continues to align with your goals.
Mindful Infusions offers GeneSight testing when clinically appropriate.
GeneSight is a pharmacogenomic test that looks at how certain genes may affect the way your body processes or responds to some psychiatric medications. It does not diagnose a condition, and it does not tell us exactly which medication will work. However, it can provide additional information that may help guide medication decisions.
GeneSight testing may be considered for patients who have had limited benefit from previous medications, difficult side effects, multiple medication trials, or a more complex medication history.
If GeneSight testing is recommended, we will review what the test can and cannot tell us, how results may be used, and how it fits into the overall treatment plan.
Mental health treatment is personal. Diagnosis matters, but so do your past experiences, current stressors, medical history, family history, and preferences. Medication decisions are made with all of these factors in mind.
For some patients, medication is the main focus of treatment. For others, it may be one part of a broader plan that includes therapy, lifestyle changes, off-label ketamine treatment when clinically appropriate, or other supports.
Our goal is to provide clear recommendations, careful monitoring, and a treatment plan that makes sense for you.
Mindful Infusions accepts insurance for medication management visits. Coverage can vary depending on your plan, diagnosis, benefits, and the type of service provided. Our team can help verify your benefits before your appointment so you have a clearer idea of what to expect.
GeneSight testing is billed separately from your medication management visit and may not be covered by insurance, depending on your plan. If GeneSight testing is recommended, we will discuss the testing process, possible cost considerations, and what to expect before proceeding.
